I t can not get any better than this. Two bull elk slowly graze at dawn under a full “Hunters’ Moon” toward a patient hunter. Welcome to a new kind of big game hunting site which is: ·Realistic of hunter ambitions within personal goals and limitations. ·Bridges science knowledge between hunter and prey. ·Exposes hunters to altitude health problems that affect hunting. ·Focused on the moral benefits of “fair chase” hunting ethics. ·Understanding that nature is a globally-interactive universe. ·Endeavors you to strive for lifetime positive hunting memories. ·Fosters family involvement in hunting, especially in the backcountry ·Is not a medium for selling guns, ATV’s, equipment or clothing (which are not REALLY basics for hunting, but commercialization of the sport). Reasons for writing the book and building this website: 1.) Act as an addendum to the book and present newly emerging knowledge to hunters for their enjoyment, hunting success and safety in the field. 2.) Instill hunters from low altitudes to prepare for the obvious and important, but often subtle, disabilities encountered at high altitudes where elk rule. Forty three years has shown me that altitude problems commonly lead to miserable and UNSUCCESSFUL Colorado high country hunts. 3.) Make hunting cherished experience for families. I love children, especially their zeal of learning. I believe they are being edged into obesity, boredom and a lifetime of insecurity and possibly even depression. Living in the outdoor is becoming a lost art. Consumerism prevails over the primary, simple goal of life - to be happy and internally content. Having the annual anticipation of and preparation for “the hunt” induces youth to get into the wild and meet its challenges. Each individual challenge met and conquered might be be separately minor, but collectively they gradually instill confidence that future problems of any kind can be mastered with planning, thought and effort. 4.) Advocate “fair play” hunting in which man pits his learning and intelligence against the natural defenses of animals with out an unfair (artificial) advantage. The trend toward technical slaughtering animals for self-gratification and commercial exploitation of hunting is unfair and can be inhumane to wounded animals. This self-centered attitude is damaging to hunter credibility, and potentially will justly arguments of anti-hunting groups, and make them grow. Our public hunting heritage may be taken away from us by these organizations, and the political power of condescending bureaucrats and investor-driven landowner pressures to privatize public lands to maximize profit for them selves. May you enjoy and prosper from this site! Please see the following pages for book subjects content, ordering methods, example pages, and book buyer testimonials.
